Leaves aglow: Hold onto your memories of Canada’s most colourful season with this beautiful fractional set.

The red maple (Acer rubrum) is one of the 10 Canadian maple species that collectively represent this nation, and the tree’s irregularly toothed leaf—one of the first of its kind to change colours each fall—is a sight to behold on the five coins that form this fractional set. From the large 1 oz. coin to the tiny 1/20 oz. piece, each coin’s reverse features the same intricate portrait of an Acer rubrum twig and leaves. And for 2024, we’ve enhanced the 1 oz. coin with selective gold plating that mimics the warm, luminous glow of autumn sunshine.

A 2024 feature: Selective gold plating on the 1 oz. coin captures the fall mood.

PACKAGING

Your five coins are individually encapsulated and presented together in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded clamshell case with a beauty box.

SELECTIVE GOLD PLATING

The 1 oz. coin, the largest in this set, is enhanced with selective gold plating that highlights the maple leaves, as well as the rim.

REVERSE PROOF FINISH

Your five coins feature a reverse proof finish — brilliant relief on frosted/matte field — that keeps the focus on the engraving.

DID YOU KNOW?

When the Silver Maple Leaf (SML) debuted in 1988, it made history as the world's first 99.99% pure silver bullion coin, and today, the SML continues to be one of the most sought-after silver bullion coins. It bears the same “maple leaf” reverse design as Canada’s iconic Gold Maple Leaf (GML) bullion coin, which first introduced the highly recognizable image created by then-Master Engraver Walter Ott.

The fast-growing red maple is one of the first Canadian maple species to undergo its colourful transformation in the fall. Its leaves are known to turn a beautiful, bright red, but they could also be yellow or orange—in fact, the “red” in the species’ common name refers to the springtime colours of the tree’s leaf buds and flowers.

On all five coins, the reverse design by Celia Godkin features a classically styled portrait of a red maple (Acer rubrum) twig and leaves. On the 1 oz. coin, selective gold plating adds a luminous touch of fall colour to the leaves and to the rim. Each reverse includes the words “CANADA”, the coin’s purity and weight, and the year “2024”.

Each obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. The obverse also bears a special marking that includes four pearls symbolizing the four effigies that have graced Canadian coins and the double date of her reign.
