The 150th anniversary of the transatlantic cable is 2016. This silver coin shows Hearts Content, Newfoundland in the background with the steamship S.S. Great Eastern moored having finished laying the cable.

The Artist creates an accurate and detailed rendition of the S. S. Great Eastern adding a jack boat in front which is easily dwarfed by the steamship on the reverse. Also, a map of the cable's route appears on the reverse of the coin.
