The reverse side depicts Canadian artist Stan Witten's rendering of three leaves from the silver maple tree, one of 100 different species of maple trees within Canada. Three leaves are unified by their common stem, symbolic of the nation's unified, multi-cultural, and diverse population. The image is laid over a blank coin field, which is matted and contrasts the image of the leaves to great effect. A further security measure is included within the coin's field, a maple leaf privy mark containing the year of issue. The outer rim contains light-refracting radial lines, with the nation and year of issue, the metal type and weight.

The obverse holds Susanna Blunt's contemporary effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, over a brilliant coin field of light refracting radial lines, enhancing the coin's beauty.
