Product details

This stunning 1.5 silver coin is a special production piece not part of the Canadian Wildlife Series. It captures the majestic polar bear and its cub roaming through the Arctic ice sheets.

COIN HIGHLIGHTS

  • Ships individually in protective packaging
  • Consisting of 1.5 oz of 9999 Fine Silver
  • Obverse: Features an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
  • Reverse: Features a polar bear mom and her cub in their natural environment, along with the country of the issue metal type, weight, and purity

The largest bear in the world and the Arctic's top predator, polar bears are a powerful symbol of the strength and endurance of the Arctic. In the Arctic, temperatures can plunge to -40° or -46 C (-50 F) in winter, but Polar bears have two layers of fur that prevent almost all heat loss. Often they even overheat while running.

Polar Bear fur isn't actually white. Each hair shaft is pigment-free and transparent, with a hollow core that scatters and reflects visible light.

ABOUT THE ROYAL CANADIAN MINT

The Royal Canadian Mint is known as one of the most reputable mints in the world. The Ottawa Branch of the Royal Mint opened in 1908 and was renamed The Royal Canadian Mint in 1931 when control was transferred to the Canadian government. Their high standards for excellence and quality allowed them to be the first refinery to manufacture 9999 fine gold bullion coins in 1982, as well as the first to reach 99999 fine gold purity in 1999.
