Secure your 1 oz 2014 Transformers: Age of Extinction - Lockdown Silver Proof Coin and grow your wealth today!
In anticipation of the upcoming release of Transformers: Age of Extinction, Perth Mint has released the Coloured Lenticular Lockdown 2014 Silver Proof Coin. This beautiful coin features a coloured portrait of one of the most infamous Decepticons, Lockdown that shows him transforming from a Lockdown Supercar into a Decepticon. With the use of lenticular lenses, not a hologram, Lockdown morphs as the coin moves.
Lockdown is a rogue Decepticon and a merciless bounty hunter who will stop at nothing. With a head that can change into a gun he was the personification of violence. In the original series he was an Autobot CyberNinja who trained under Yoketron and was banished for betraying him. He later returned and killed Yoketron as his first bounty. He returns in the fourth installment of this very popular franchise with a vengeance.
The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the words "Elizabeth II Tuvalu 1 Dollar 2014" and the artist's initials.
The reverse features a beautifully rendered depiction of Lockdown by artist Jennifer McKenna as seen in the modern franchise and portrays both the Decepticon and vehicle form in amazing detail. The background features the easily recognizable Decepticon symbol and the futuristic patterns (in this case partial honeycombs) that Transformers were known for in the early cartoon releases. The lenticular design, unlike holograms, is actually printed onto special lenses and doesn't need special lighting to see their effect.
This beautiful proof coin is truly "more than meets the eye", and is made with 1 ozt of 999 pure silver and features a serialized certificate. It is official legal tender of Tuvalu (non-circulation). With a limited worldwide mintage of only 5,000 this collectible is sure to go fast.
The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as the British Royal Mint's 3rd branch in Australia. The historical Hay Street location handled gold refining until moving to a modern facility in April 1990. Ownership of the mint was transferred to the Government of Western Australia in July of 1970. Under an agreement with the Commonwealth Treasury, they were empowered to mint and market gold, silver, and platinum as Australian legal tender to investors and collectors worldwide. Today, they are amongst the elite world mints whose pure gold, silver, and platinum items are trusted without question. Items such as the Australian Nugget, Silver Coin Series (Kangaroo, Kookaburra, Koala, and Platypus to name a few), as well as the Australian Lunar Gold and Silver Coin Series are extensively sought after by bullion investors worldwide.
