The Imposing icon’s series from the Royal Canadian Mint features animals that can be seen across Canada’s stunning landscape. This four-coin, collectible series has minimal mintage figures of only 2500 total for each release combines, a proof finish, colorized detailing, and black clamshell box for excellent presentational value.
The reverse contains Canadian artist Maurade Baynton’s detailed, colorized depiction of a bighorn sheep, which can be found throughout western Canada. The coin’s 50-millimetre surface area provides ample surface area for the full frontal of a bighorn sheep, which has been superimposed in the forefront of the coin’s field. The rugged Canadian landscape comes to life with the use of expert etching and engraving.
The obverse holds Susanna Blunt’s contemporary effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, with a cameo-like finish with a frosted detail, which contrasts the coin’s proof finish. The Queen’s title and the year of issue are also included.
The Royal Canadian Mint is known as one of the most reputable mints in the world. The Ottawa Branch of the Royal Mint opened in 1908 and was renamed The Royal Canadian Mint in 1931 when control was transferred to the Canadian government. Their high standards for excellence and quality allowed them to be the first refinery to manufacture 9999 fine gold bullion coins in 1982, as well as the first to reach 99999 fine gold purity in 1998.
