The legend says that the Chinese emperor Jade held a Great Race with animals. The race would determine the first twelve zodiac signs. The first twelve animals to cross a river before the end of the race would be featured in the Chinese Zodiac.

Amidst the race, the dog stopped for a quick river swim, which caused him to arrive too late, finishing in the 11th position between the Rooster and the Pig.

Those born under the year of the dog are said to share in its characteristics, displaying loyalty, friendliness and unconditional love; they include those born in 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 and 2018. Celebrate the year of the dog and fortify your holdings with a 1 oz 2006 Perth Mint Gold Lunar Year of the Dog coin today!

The 12 Chinese Lunar Zodiac releases come in the following: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT

The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as the British Royal Mint’s 3rd branch in Australia. The historical Hay Street location handled gold refining until moving to a modern facility in April 1990. Ownership of the mint was transferred to the Government of Western Australia in July of 1970. Under an agreement with the Commonwealth Treasury, they were empowered to mint and market gold, silver, and platinum as Australian legal tender to investors and collectors worldwide. Today, they are amongst the elite world mints whose pure gold, silver, and platinum items are trusted without question. Items such as the Australian Nugget, Silver Coin Series (Kangaroo, Kookaburra, Koala, and Platypus to name a few), as well as the Australian Lunar Gold and Silver Coin Series are extensively sought after by bullion investors worldwide.
