The Kookaburra, which is native to Australia and New Guinea, are characterized by their large heads, stout bodies, prominent eyes, and a large bill.

In nature, they are distinguished by their easily recognizable call, which mimics human laughter.

Minted since 1990, the top-rated Kookaburra series contains 9999 fine silver and has featured the lovable avian in various poses since then.

2020 marks the 30th anniversary of this highly sought after coin, and the Perth Mint has limited the mintage to only 500,000 coins!

The obverse displays Stuart Devlin's Kookaburra, Perched upon a ledge as it begins its morning call.

A sunrise is depicted in the background, with skillful and expert engraving used to illustrate the Kookaburra in incredibly vivid detail, and the design is enhanced by a spectacular proof finish, which is accentuated by the matte finish of the background.

The image is encapsulated by a ring, which signifies the title of the series and has the added security feature of micro-engraved lines, which are only visible under a microscope, in addition to the Perth Mark "P."

"30th Anniversary" is seen below, along with the denomination and metal purity.

In celebration of the 30th anniversary, the reverse side has been completely redesigned, adding further appeal.

A Kookaburra is depicted, resting in its natural habitat as it surveys its surroundings. The initial year of release, 1990, is on one side, with the current year of release on the other, with Jody Clark's effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the middle.

Her Majesty's name, the nation of issue, and denominational value are all included in the ring that encapsulates the image.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT
