In The Man With The Golden Gun, Bond hunts for a ‘Solex Agitator’ stolen by Francisco Scaramanga, a vicious hitman who executes victims with a solid gold pistol for $1 million per kill. Played by Roger Moore in his second outing as the daring agent, Bond employs all his trickery to outwit the assassin and his signature weapon, with the decisive action taking place inside the unnerving surroundings of the assassin’s deadly ‘funhouse’.

50th ANNIVERSARY DESIGN

The coin portrays coloured images of James Bond and Francisco Scaramanga standing back-to-back at the start of their pistol duel. The background incorporates representations of the sea and islands, with spiral shapes from the famous 007 gun barrel logo. The coloured inscription ‘THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN FIFTY YEARS’ sits beneath the Bond Family Crest bearing the motto ORBIS NON SUFFICIT (the world is not enough) and the number 50.

MEMORIAL OBVERSE

This coin portrays the official Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign – ‘1952 – 2022’.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT

The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as the British Royal Mint’s 3rd branch in Australia. The historical Hay Street location handled gold refining until moving to a modern facility in April 1990.
