DID YOU KNOW?

In the Chinese zodiac’s 12-year cycle, every year pairs an animal sign with one of five elements—and 2027 marks the return of the lively Fire element. People born in the Year of the Goat are known for their calm, compassionate and creative nature; add Fire, and the Goat becomes a more energetic and expressive version of its gentle self.

The reverse design by Canadian artist Jai Paek celebrates the Year of the Goat (“羊”) through its folk-art styled depiction of the Chinese zodiac animal, gracefully stepping into the new year to represent forward movement. Fire, the ruling element in 2027, is represented by the Goat’s fiery mane and hooves, as well as the flame-like markings on its body, where the flowing curls evoke an intuitive emotional energy. The dot motifs form a subtle nod to the lucky numbers of 3 and 5. Surrounding the Goat, the auspicious chrysanthemum symbolizes longevity and balance, while the peony—placed near the head to connect with mental clarity and prosperity—represents wealth and a noble spirit. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
