These 2 oz silver stackers are modelled after the recognizable Guy Fawkes mask, which became an iconic symbol of rebellion and postmodern anarchism throughout pop and internet culture. Another addition to the stackers mask series from the reliable Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO).
Guy Fawkes (also known as Guido Fawkes) was a member of the Provincial English Catholics and one of the mentors of the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605. The plot was an attempt to overthrow King James I. Fawkes was in charge of a stockpile of gunpowder designed to blow the House of Lords. An anonymous letter sent to authorities prompted them to search the undercroft beneath the House of Lords, where they found Guy Fawkes guarding the explosives. Fawkes confessed the intentions and was sentenced to death. In recent decades, a mask that depicts Guy Fawkes has become a symbol of rebellion against tyranny, monopolies and authoritarianism.
