Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was completed in 1865, written by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the nom de plume of Lewis Carroll. The story has been enormously influential in popular culture and literature, and has been in print continuously since 1865.

The reverse of the coin features a colourized Alice holding a bottle of "Drink Me" potion, that causes the drinker to shrink in size.

The Cheshire Cat is watching her intently, while the White Rabbit checks his watch, no doubt late for something!

The Cheshire Cat and White Rabbit, as well as the tree and checkerboard pattern on the ground are all etched with a high level of detail.
