The Kermode, “Spirit Bear,” is a subspecies of Black Bear that is distinguished by its astoundingly low population-between 100 and 500 total bears in the wild- and their mythical white fur, which is the result of a gene mutation. The Spirit bear is the second release of this painstaking, and well-designed series of the Royal Canadian Mint, featuring the nation’s most prolific hunters on 9999 pure silver. The spirit of the spirit bear is fully captured with the use of toned enamel, expert engraving, proof finish, and meticulous texturing for an enhanced effect, with the remarkable hypnotic predatory stare captured with stunning accuracy! This 1 kg silver coin captures the extreme rarity of these bears, which is reflected in the minimal mintage of only 500 coins and enhance value with the addition of a mint issued, branded maple wooden box, serialized certificate of authenticity, and coin encapsulation.

Glen Loates’ illustration of a Spirit Bear is brought to life on the reverse side, with the use of state-of-the-art engraving, shadowing, and texturing. The designer’s initials and the nation of issue are also included.

Contained on the obverse is Susanna Blunt’s contemporary effigy of her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, over a stylized coin field. Her Majesties title, the coins denominational value, and the year of issue are also seen.
