Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953 was watched over by ten heraldic beasts, created to represent the various branches of royal genealogy over the centuries.

The Welsh Dragon is a heraldic symbol that represents Wales and appears on the national flag of Wales. As an emblem, the red dragon of Wales has been used since the reign of Cadwaladr, King of Gwynedd, from around 655AD and is historically known as the "Red Dragon of Cadwaladr."

The dragon represents sovereignty and power and first saw use in Royal Arms in the 16th century.
