This beautiful round was patterned after the original $2.50 & $5.00 Indian Head Gold Coin Minted from 1908 to 1929 and designed by Bela Lyon Pratt.

Typically, coin designs are struck onto the surface of the coin, creating raised reliefs you can feel if you run your finger across the surface. The Indian Head design from Pratt was struck incuse, meaning the design was effectively cut or stamped into the coin's surface, leaving a flat relief across the surface with sunken visuals instead.
